Gov. Bredesen visits Boys’ State for eighth consecutive year, watch message to parents
Gov. Phil Bredesen gave delegates advice to carry into their futures with pointed tips about service and leadership. “Open your minds to how you define the idea of patriotism,” he said. “Plan, but keep in mind, chance is your friend. Stay open to change. Most successful people are.”
Gov. Bredesen told delegates to find some way to give back to their communities. He encouraged them to examine their senior year in high school and consider what they could learn, how important friends are and how to take lessons from mistakes.
In a question and answer session, Bredesen addressed pre-K funding, No Child Left Behind, political appointments and the federal health care bill.
